Fun little portrait

I loved this simple naive photo so much I had to paint it.

This one was done in a single color in watercolor. (and a touch of white gouache)

Damn!

Wow, the new scanner worked……for 1 day. I’ll have to return that one.

Damn!

Yess, the new scanner is here

My new scanner got in. I think posting that wish helped, hehe.

Anyway, the thing is freakin’ huge, but scanning in A3 instead of scanning in parts and pasting all of it in photoshop is such an advantage.

Let’s give it a test-drive with a golden oldie, the cover artwork of the 2nd Acrostichon album. I painted that one in 1993.

I wish my new scanner was here!

I just painted this little addition for the POS poster.

I kept in under A4 size so I could scan it in one go.’

I really hope my new A3 scanner will be in the mail soon. (Which will be a challenge with Dutch mailservices on strike again!).  Scanning paintings an A4 size parts and stitching them together in Photoshop is really getting annoying. :(

Place of Skulls / The Gates of Slumber 2011 tour

I’m working on a tourposter for two metal-juggernauts. The ever-great Place of Skulls featuring one of my fave guitarists, Victor Griffin, and Gates of slumber.

For this poster I’m experimenting with a combination of painting and ink. Here’s the base artwork I’ve just finished.

I’ll be doing all the coloring and designwork in Illustrator and Photoshop. This combination of ink-drawing and painting is new for me but it seems to work!

Re-issue of first Acrostichon LP/CD

This is so cool! We’re about to re-issue the Engraved in Black album on CD AND VINYL!

The CD version will be released by Memento Mori, a new Spanish label. The vinyl version will be released on a dutch label.

I’ve been waiting for ages the chance to do this album justice with new cover-art.

And here it is!

I’m starting to like this proces of painting in black and white and coloring in photoshop.
It’s totally different from painting the colors but I like the results.

Here’s the original painting. I only used black watercolor paint and a touch of white gouache.

The CD will feature the complete original 1992 CD, of course, and some rare recordings such as the complete 1991 Dehumanized demo, and more…..

More Roadburn Flyers

Yess, I’ve been busy.

These are a few of the recently finished flyers.

Roadburn Afterburner

A Watercolor painting. I painted it in black and colored it in Photoshop.

Bloodfarmers

You can’t go wrong with a bandname like that. The first time I saw that movie (Invasion of the bloodfarmers, that is) I couldn’t believe it. It’s so freakin’ bad. I laughed my ass off!
The flyer, it’s a parody of the American Gothic painting. I did it in indian ink. The rest was done in the ‘ole photoshop.

There’s more to come.

New flyers!

Let’s start with some new flyers I did for the upcoming Roadburn festival.

Acid King

I love 60′s/70′s biker movies. I did this one in red watercolor. I decided on a different colorscheme while designing the typography and changed it to orange in photoshop.

Pentagram

pentagram flyer roadburn 2011

Pentagram flyer, also for Roadburn. I had a great time painting this one. Liebling missed hiss calling. He should be in classic exploitation horror flicks!
 It’s a watercolor painting.

Welcome to the new site!!

Welcome to the new Robotmonster site. I thought is was about time to throw everything out and start over with the site.

Updating the site in the old format took way too  much time, resulting in a static site.  Instead of  a gallery-like showcase I’ve decided to choose for a blog format so I can show off my latest stuff right away.  I hope you like it.
